Here's the sample new site.
Known issues:
images will be made for the new dimensions as soon as we agree on a layout. They are not properly sized and some are fuzzy right now.

This blog will disappear before going live with the site but could be used for discussions in the spring.

Questions:
1) We have established beige and blue as our colors in our brochure (Seattle Sampling has white; white images on white sometimes look dirty). Current background color is "white orchid (FDFDF0)" and the best compromise we could come up with in the pale color list. Or should we go a shade darker? Note that many colors are too yellow on some devices and at the same time too pink on others. http://www.somacon.com/p142.php has a chart

The majority of the web volunteers are loath to go with black. Black is considered very dated in websites (look at art sites that have the money to pay designers) and definitely not the right mood for a holiday tour. Remember, the site is primarily about encouraging people to take this fun tour and decide to visit all the other houses in addition to the one that got them to look at the webpage. They can go to --your-- website to see your art.

2) The template we used is a gray text (#666666). Should we go to black or keep the gray? Or dark blue? or.... Please look at it with as many computers and phones as you can. Tell us what breaks.

3) Does anyone have a better idea for lead image on the top of the home page? The map seems too cold (it is the top of the directions page and seems to go well there).

4) We have a tag line of "ordinary becomes extraordinary" at the end of a list of materials over partial photos of our work. Should this be re-constructed on the home page right sidebar or should we have photos of the event? (This is on the directions page now).

Please add comments below, they won't appear immediately.
